The President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katić, with his colleagues, attended yesterday's ceremony on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Bokel Navy 809 - Herceg Novi branch, the Day of the Liberation of Herceg Novi from the Turkish occupation and the Day of St. Jeronim. Common respect for traditions and customs, celebration of holidays, represents the greatest cultural and historical wealth of Herceg Novi, what makes this city recognizable.
On the plateau in front of the Municipality building, the detachment of Bokeljska moranica 809 - branch of Herceg Novi with friends from Kotor and Tivat, was welcomed and greeted by the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katic and handed over the national flag to Admiral Mirko Vičević.
After the report, president Katic conducted an inspection of the squad, which was attended by the president of the Hercegnov branch, Milorad Nešić, among others. The solemn procession then headed towards the Old Town, accompanied by the sounds of local music by Đenović and numerous citizens, with the symbolic opening of the gates of the city, then freed from Turkish rule.
In front of the church of St. Jerome, the Main Detachment of the Bokel Navy 809 was lined up for the review conducted by Admiral Vičević, and after the honor platoon, the traditional round of St. Tripun was played.
The two-day celebration ended with a solemn mass in the church of St. Jeronim.
