As part of the jubilee thirtieth edition of Herceg Novi April theater festivities, on Friday, April 25, starting at 8:30 p.m., the play "Utopia Today" will be performed on the stage of the Park Hall. The musical performance, which includes elements of performance, video art and documentary-feature film, was co-produced by the Tivat Culture Center, the Student Cultural Center Novi Sad, Bitef Teatra Belgrade, the Cultural Center "Grad" (Belgrade) and "Trinidad" (Novi Sad).
"Utopia Today" is science fiction. It is the future, which begins with the Great Revolution in which humanity is finally freed from capitalism. Artificial intelligence takes over the most difficult jobs, so people only have to live and enjoy. Happiness, pleasure and hedonism are imperatives of the new world, based on social justice... Everyone has everything they need for happiness... but what is happiness?
In the first part of "Utopia today", the stylized documentary form prevails, and in the second, the drama form prevails. Dramatic and documentary scenes are presented live on stage, as well as on video projection or in the interaction between the performers on stage and the video, and the dynamic is determined from start to finish by the live performance of the music.
"With the form of a musical drama, the authors managed to make it an even more dangerous weapon than a dramatic dialogue would be. Attacking all the senses, first of all with the well-known, thoughtful, much-awarded music of the Vroom group, and then with the apocalyptic magic of all those present on the stage, Grubić, Bogavac and the rest mapped the path not to be taken through suffering, in which abundance also arises, in which humanity disappears and, in the end, provided a signpost for salvation... The Force, which stands above of all of us, is unstoppable and uncompromising - the one that will transform the disappearing world into a new state, with its own life and economic parameters, the authors managed to make it an even more dangerous weapon than it would be a dramatic dialogue. First of all, with the well-known, well-regarded music of the Vroom group, and then with the apocalyptic magic of all those present on the stage are suffering, in which abundance also arises, in which humanity disappears, they mapped the path that is not taken and gave, in the end, a signpost for salvation... The force, which stands above us all, is unstoppable and uncompromising - evolution. The one who will transform the disappearing world into a new state with its own life and economic parameters."
