On the occasion of Liberation Day and Herceg Novi Municipality Day yesterday, according to tradition, wreaths were laid at the Tora memorial, the Savina monastery, and then at the Bezmetković monument.
The leaders of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, accompanied by councilors, representatives of the Army of Montenegro and members of UBNOR (association of fighters of the national liberation war), in this way paid tribute to the fighters who fell for our city, its freedom and bright future.
The President of the Municipal Assembly, Ivan Otović, reminded us of this significant date in the history of our city.
"We pay tribute to all those who made a great contribution so that we live in freedom today." We remember not only the brave fighters who liberated Herceg Novi from the Nazi occupation on October 28, 1944, but also all those who fought and fought for the freedom of our city and our people in the past centuries. It is our duty to preserve the achievements of the liberation wars, to respect and respect each other. Herceg Novi, then and now, is a city open to everyone, a city that respects diversity and nurtures cultural and religious harmony. I believe that it will be the same in the times ahead, that we will protect our own and respect others," Otović pointed out.
The celebration of the Day of Liberation of Herceg Novi and the Day of the Municipality will continue with a ceremonial session in the Park Hall, which was preceded by a parade and a performance by the City Music and Majorettes. The visitors were welcomed in the foyer of the hall by an exhibition of portraits of those who until now held the office of the President of the Municipality, author Ivan Zečević.
