Representatives of the Herceg Novi Tourist Organization participated in the General Assembly of the Via Habsburg cultural route of the Council of Europe, which took place in Korneuburg near Vienna, under the auspices of the Burghauptmannschaft Österreich, the institution responsible for the management of Austrian cultural heritage. This prestigious event brought together members and partners of the route from Austria and other European countries, with the aim of strengthening the promotion of the culture and traditions of cities and regions linked by the Austro-Hungarian heritage.
During their stay in Austria, representatives of the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi had the opportunity to attend a reception with the president of the municipality of Korneuburg. The possibilities of creating innovative tourist products that connect historical destinations and would attract target groups of visitors interested in authentic tourist experiences were discussed. In addition, a visit was made to the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, which was the Habsburg residence and is a key point of this European cultural route.
A particularly significant part of the visit was a meeting with a representative of GS Films production, which shoots a series of documentaries about picturesque destinations and regions throughout Europe that were part of the Monarchy. The first four episodes were shown on the television network 3SAT, which brings together Austrian, German and Swiss broadcasters, and the series has so far been watched by more than three million viewers in the German-speaking area. This meeting opened the possibility for the potential inclusion of Herceg Novi as the Montenegrin carrier of the Via Habsburg route, in the 5th and last episode of the series. It provides an opportunity to raise the visibility of the destination at the international level, both through cooperation with European institutions and through potential inclusion in prestigious media projects.
The Via Habsburg route, as part of the Council of Europe's Cultural Routes network, connects destinations across the continent that bear witness to the rich Austro-Hungarian heritage. Herceg Novi, with its ancient tradition, tangible and intangible heritage carefully nurtured over the centuries of its existence, has significant potential for the development of cultural tourism and specialized tourist content.
The tourist organization of Herceg Novi will continue to actively participate in the work of the network of this European cultural route, with the aim of additional valorization of the cultural and historical heritage, attracting visitors from Europe and the world, and dispersing the tourist season for the whole year.
